Exit Readiness Diagnostics

Proof of Concept Review

Help Us Test a New Exit Readiness Diagnostic

We are developing a new advisor-led Exit Readiness Diagnostic designed to help business owners understand how prepared they are to exit their business successfully. Before we finalise the tool, we are inviting a small group of trusted professionals to review the questions and provide feedback on their relevance, quality, and commercial usefulness.

What the Diagnostic Covers

The diagnostic has been designed to explore six core areas of exit readiness:

  • Exit Clarity
  • Financial Readiness
  • Business Transferability
  • Commercial Attractiveness
  • Structural Readiness
  • Psychological Readiness

The aim is to go beyond purely financial or operational issues and assess the broader factors that determine whether an owner is genuinely ready to exit.

Why We’re Asking for Your Feedback

This diagnostic is being developed as a structured advisory tool that could support business owners in the years leading up to exit. At this stage, we want to test whether the questions are:

  • Commercially relevant
  • Professionally credible
  • Clear enough to use in real conversations
  • Likely to surface meaningful issues
  • Useful as the foundation for a broader exit planning process

Who This Is For

We are particularly interested in feedback from:

  • Business brokers
  • IFA’s / financial planners
  • Accountants
  • Exit planning advisers
  • Corporate finance professionals

Your perspective will help us determine whether the diagnostic has practical value and whether the question set is strong enough to develop further.

What We’d Like You to Consider

As you review the questions, we’d particularly value your view on the following:

  • Are the right issues being explored?
  • Are any important areas missing?
  • Are any questions unclear, weak, or repetitive?
  • Would this tool be useful in your advisory process?
  • Does the inclusion of psychological readiness add value?

A Broader Aim

The intention behind this tool is not simply to produce a score. It is to create a structured starting point for better exit conversations and, ultimately, support the development of a clear exit plan.

If the question set proves viable, the next stage will be to develop the reporting, scoring interpretation, and advisory process around it.

Please Review the Questions and Share Your Feedback

Your feedback at this stage will directly shape the final version of the diagnostic. We appreciate you taking the time to review it.
